Captured
- 1
CO2 is captured from the air.
- 2
It is added to fuels.
- 3
E-fuels are used with the internal combustion engine.
- 4
TheCO2 is released into the atmosphere.
Unlike conventional fuels made from petroleum, e-fuels are synthetic fuels produced from green hydrogen obtained by electrolysis of water, with renewable electricity and the addition of carbon dioxide (CO2) captured from the air.
Carbon is essential to life on Earth. Whether it's making goods or breathing, carbon exchanges are part and parcel of all plant and animal life. Similarly, to enable combustion in the combustion engine,CO2 is also required.
By using e-fuels, sinceCO2 iscaptured , the amount ofCO2 in the atmosphere does not increase, making e-fuels carbon-neutral.
